The benefit of some spirometers is portability and availability of sensors that measure air speed. They are also disposable hence eliminating the possibility of spreading diseases. Additional electronic components may help the spirometers generate volume curves and loops. Lack of real-time measurements and challenges of calibrating results are the key disadvantages of the devices. If the internal surfaces are left unclean, bacteria could thrive there.

Getting a quality spirometer is not the biggest problem one can encounter. This results because there are many stores and shops that stock them. Online shops can be of assistance too in case there are no local stores. It is advisable to do some research before settling for any particular model.
